Cork's insulating wall cladding system

"COATED  THERMAL CLADDING" it’s a coating with insulating panels applied on perimeter walls of the house.

Thermal coat or  insulating coat, as the coat that we wear when it’s cold, conserve the heat of the house avoiding the dispersion outside: this means greater comfort and significant energy savings.

The best coat is made if the coating is outdoor, in this case the best continuity of insulation is obtained without the presence of less insulated points called "thermal bridges",  outdoor coat preserves the "thermal flywheel" of walls that accumulate the heat and return it inside during the off heating phases, even the phenomenon of "interstitial condensation" is avoided by the external thermal coating.

However, if it’s too difficult to make outdoors coat, even an internal thermal coating can brings beneficial effects: more pleasant and healthy walls, less cold and significant energy savings. In general, inside it’s advisable to apply not excessive thicknesses to avoid accentuating the presence of thermal bridges and to prevent interstitial condensation.

The choice of materials is very important: if we use natural and breathable materials such as cork and lime, our thermal coat will be healthy and breathable. We will be able to have an excellent thermal insulation without compromising the wholesomeness of the home air: a coat made of synthetic materials can in fact negatively affect the quality of the air we breathe at home. This phenomenon is often exacerbated by the characteristics of the new windows that seal the rooms limiting the air exchange through the "draughts" of the windows.

One of the consequences of using synthetic insulation is that it requires "forced ventilation" for the exchange of indoor air. If we use cork and lime all this is not necessary, a strong point for green building, which in many cases it’s cheaper than conventional solutions because it doesn’t create collateral problems and therefore doesn’t require additional costs such as forced ventilation of the rooms.

Moreover, the cork coat is not only the most natural and ecological solution possible, but thanks to its high density and specific heat and the qualities of elasticity also ensures greater performance compared to materials derived from petrochemical or fibrous, as it is able to guarantee the total protection of the structures, isolating at the same time from the winter cold, from the summer heat and offering an excellent sound absorption and acoustic insulation.

We recommend  cork panel and natural lime as adhesive/levelling, a perfect combination of healthy, durable and breathable natural materials. Cork, Blond or Brown it’s an insulator widely used over the years, certainly the first material with which the thermal coats were made, well before the arrival of oil derivatives.

Even the natural "hydraulic" lime is a healthy, reliable and transpiring binder, also has been used for a long time since the ancient Romans (in fact, hydraulic lime is also called Roman lime).

So if you want to make an inproving of energy efficency  of your home, choose cork as a thermal insulation: for the roof, for the foundations and for the thermal coat both on the outside and inside. The result will be a healthy, pleasant, protected and well-insulated environment in every season for maximum comfort and energy savings.
